About compressing to 20 KB

20 KB is the size limit a lot of application forms put on a scanned signature, and some put it on the passport photo too. This page starts the compressor with a 20 KB maximum already selected. You upload once, check the preview, and download a file that fits — no account, no watermark, and no quality cap on the free output.

Questions about 20 KB

How is 20 KB different from just lowering the quality slider?

A quality slider gives you a guess: the same setting produces very different file sizes on different images. Targeting 20 KB works the other way round — the tool adjusts quality until the encoded file actually lands under 20 KB, so you get the sharpest version that still respects the limit.

My form says between 20 KB and 50 KB. Can I use this page?

You can, but a strict 20 KB maximum may land you just under the lower bound of that range. For a range, open the exact-KB compressor and set a target range instead, so the result sits comfortably inside the limits the form accepts.

Does compressing to 20 KB change the pixel dimensions?

No. Compression only changes how much data is used to store the picture, not how many pixels wide and tall it is. If the form also states pixel dimensions, use the photo resizer for those and compress afterwards.
